New Jam!! 'Woo'

We have started a new jam 'Woo'.

Woo starts off as an acoustic guitar track created by Striptease on Mute and Rory Mulligan.  The track is quite short running at 1 min 41 seconds in length and is 85bpm in the key of C.

Here it is:

So what happens now?

Well we ask all you musicians and artists out there to download the track from the player (click on the downward facing arrow button to download), add your sound/instrument/vocal and send the updated track to xamplify@msn.com

Once you have sent it to us we will post your works on our myspace page for other jammers around the world to add their sound/instrument/vocal to.

If you get stuck or need to ask us a question you can contact us on xamplify@msn.com or by sending us a message on myspace.

The Online Jam Band

Hello there, my name is Pippin and for those who don't know I have recently started the worlds first virtual communal band called Pippin and his Online Jam Band.

In this first blog I will start out by explaining how the online jam band concept works using our track Zeitgeist as an example.

We start off a by creating a full song containing one instrument.  In the case of our track Zeitgeist we started of with a drum track which was created by Chris Krawall  from Germany:

We then ask artists from around the world to download this track (which can be done by clicking on the downward facing arrow with a line underneath) and add one instrument or sound to the track.  For example David O'Dwyer from England chose to add bass to the track:

Once David added the bass he sent the track to us by e-mail which you can also do if you wish to take part on xamplify@msn.com .  We then put this track  up on our site for others to add their sound to.  It didn't take long for Martin Riopel from Canada to download this track and add his guitars to the track and here is what he sent us:

This is the stage we are currently at with our track Zeitgeist and we are still looking for artists to add their sound to this track (maybe some vocals would be nice) so if you are interested let us know

Now we also ask artists to remix the tracks we create as we progress through the jams and as an example Sonic Scribe from England decided to create a remix using the drum track from Chris Krawall posted for the first stage of Zeitgeist.  This is what he came up with:

We posted it up on our site as we do with all the tracks that are sent in.  We then received a track by Yum Yum from France who had added his sounds to Sonic Scribes remix, creating a remix of a remix!  Here is what he sent us:

I hope you like this idea for an online jam band, I have a huge amount of joy running it and have discovered some truly wonderful unsigned artists (who I will talk about in future blogs) and some really cool people who are not musicians but contribute to the jam in different ways.

You can check out the jam on www.myspace.com/myspacejamband where you can participate or just follow the 'Online Jam Band'.  I wish to thank everyone who has taken part in the band as this is your band as much as it is mine, it is a band where everyone is a member and without all the artists and fans taking part this project could not work.

Thank you for taking the time to read this blog and I hope to hear your thoughts on this project
